A note from Max:

“I shaped the MPI-LM model with these words in mind: “safety,” “quality,” “cost efficiency,” “fitting to all hand grips.” I chose the 15 inch size as it is the most commonly used size in stock car racing. My main goal was making a great steering wheel for all the stock car guys (and girls) while keeping it as affordable (not cheap!!) as possible! (I too have had to choose between buying a nice pair of gloves or a set of tires and I always had to choose the tires…)

We started from a steel frame base as mandatory by NASCAR and water jet cut it to our unique MPI shape and construction to improve resistance and flexibility under impact.

We increased the size of the spoke and the center section in comparison to the MPI-MP models in order to give a more robust feeling and increase the life of the steering wheel itself, while making it usable with most of the common stock car hub adaptors and quick release mechanisms on the market.

I used a proprietary construction polyurethane material (my secret formula A.M.S.T – which I developed during my racing years) to reduce vibration to the drivers’ hands. It has a slightly softer touch than most of the other steering wheel manufacturers as it helped in reducing fatigue and absorbing more vibration during long distance races, consequently making a driver’s hands and arms as relaxed as possible.

The grip shape is oval like the contour of your hand when you make a fist in order to make it as ergonomic and natural feeling as possible. I put a very gentle indent for the thumb keeping in mind that this had to be a steering wheel that drivers can use either while moving their hands on it or keeping them at 3 and 9 o’clock position.

We used the highest quality suede available on the market. Notice how smooth and continuous the flow of the suede from the spoke side to the crown side is…this comes from our unique MPI covering technique that is being used to cover all of our steering wheels. To contain cost, we went ahead without the parallel stitching that you see on the MPI-MP-OE and MPI-MP-O models.

We integrated the orange marker into the steering wheel body to give it the smoothest possible feeling and for it to be in the exact same position from steering wheel to steering wheel, so driver and crew chief can use it as the perfect reference, race after race, even when changing steering wheel size and/or model.

I truly believe we created the most affordable, best looking, and efficient steering wheel on the market. I’m proud of our final achievement and I trust you will enjoy it on tracks all around the world.”
